Communication about Upcoming Assignments and Tests

           Quarter 2!   November 17, 2009
Keep practicing your Famous Ohioan Report for the taping.  The students will begin their powerpoints on the Famous Ohioan with Mrs. Sturwold in the computer room.  We will spend one class period talking about the student's decision on the number of slides and what information he/she will put on each slide.  We are making simple posters on a topic from Chapter 6.   No test in Social Studies before Thanksgiving.

In Health, the students worked on life size models of the digestive system in small groups. This test will happen after Thanksgiving.   .

Spelling Unit #8 test on Friday.  There is no reading comprehension test this week since we are reading another novel: The Whipping Boy.   The students will be looking for at least ten similes from the novel.  These need to be written in their notebooks for now.

In English, we have a plural noun test on Tuesday, November 24 just before the break. The students can review pages 90-95 in the Tiger text book. There are extra practices sentences on page 159-161. Even if we do these in class, it is helpful to review the spelling rules and try spelling the plural form of the nouns. We are continuing to work on plural nouns- adding "s" or "es."  Changing "y" to "i" and adding "es".  Some words ending in "y" just add "s".  Some words change the spelling- child to children, man to men.  Some nouns have the same singular and plural form- deer.

In Religion, the 4th grade is putting together the school Thanksgiving Prayer Service.  They are collecting canned foods and clean, used toys for Manna Outreach.  They can bring these in next week before the break. They will collect them during the prayer service and load the van before leaving school.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving break.  Mary Kay Merz
