About The Teacher

After working as a police officer for 15 years, I retired from a local
Police department in 1997. While working as a police officer I was required
to use math on a daily basis. During my career as a police officer, I
attended many specialty schools. One school that I attended is Northwestern
University Traffic Institute. At this school, I learned how to use
Mathematics, physics, and dynamics to investigate serious vehicle accidents.
After seeing how math was used in real life situations, I decided that
learning math should be interesting and revolve around real life
applications. I then went back to college to receive my degree in education
so I could teach Math & Social Studies. I am also a very experienced soccer
coach with my last coaching position being on the staff of a Division 1
college. I have been married to my wife Lisa for 20 years, and we have two
daughters, one is an 8th grader and the other is a sophomore in college.
Both of my daughters are very active in sports, (soccer, tennis, & softball)
and both take or teach dance lessons. My oldest daughter is named Rosemary
and she is a very accomplished softball player who had her first Olympic
tryout when she was 15 years old. My youngest daughter is named Maria and
she is an accomplished dancer, and a very good soccer and softball player.

Mission For The Class

The study of mathematics should revolve around the real life applications of
mathematics where we are required to use mathematics to solve life’s daily
questions. Math should not intimidate someone but should stimulate them.

History is more than studying dead old people; it is a glimpse of what makes
us who we are. Keep in mind that every thing that makes us who we are is a
direct result of our history. Our society has evolved from many diverse
backgrounds and is constantly changing and evolving to this day.
