GRADE 6 READING HOMEWORK

November 16, 2009  Have fun at Camp Kern !!  Vocabulary Story is due on 
Friday, November 20th.  Vocabulary test is on Monday, November 23rd.  
READING LOG IS DUE ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH.  

November 9th:  Homework for tonight:  Make sure you have your reading log 
completed and turned in on Tuesday.  You had no class today.  Read 40 
mintues 
for AR since you have no other homework! Also remember your vocabulary words 
are to be in your notebook:  Word, definition from paper, part of speech, 
synonym and antonym for each word!  VOCABULARY STORY IS DUE ON MONDAY OF 
NEXT 
WEEK.  IT IS WORTH 100 POINTS (TEST GRADE) AND MUST USE ALL OF YOUR 
VOCABUALRY WORDS FROM THIS FIRST SECTION OF THE BOOK.  BE CREATIVE AND AND 
MAKE SURE YOU USE THE VOCABULARY WORDS CORRECTLY FOR MEANING AND PART OF 
SPEECH!!!   


October 16th Reading Logs are due Monday,  Read 20 minutes each night and 
makes sure you have all your reading logs caught up and all AR completed. 
The quarter ends this Friday. Vocabulary test is this Wednesday.  

October 13th:  Remember, reading, it has been quite a while since we had 
class.  My goal is to finish Rumble Fish by next Friday if possible.  Please 
make sure you answered the questions on Rumble Fish and have been studying 
the vocabulary.  We need to have a vocabulary test on Thursday or Friday.  
We 
will have class on Wednesday.  Make sure you bring your reading log to class 
on Wednesday!  

October 5 Correct test and get it signed;  correct fraction word problems!  

October 2nd Reading Logs and sentences are due on Monday.  Vocabulary test 
is 
on Wednesday.  

September 29:  Questions from the book are due Wednesday,  vocabulary is due 
to be written in your reading notebook with part of speech, synonym and 
antonym by Thursday.  Here is the list of parts of speech, synonym and 
antonym that I promised.  You will also be given one of these in class on 
Wednesday.

HOMEWORK  FOR WEEK OF sEPTEMBER 14TH:  This paper was handed out to all 6th 
grade students on Monday, September 14th.  Please make note of all due

Here is the vocabulary for the first four chapters of Rumble Fish.  
First 2 Assignments:  Write each word in your reading spiral notebook, 
(homework /notes) then write the definition, part of speech, a synonym and 
an antonym for each word.  The first 7 words are due in your notebook with 
all of the above on Tuesday, September 15th.  The next 7 words, 8-14 are due 
in your notebook with all of the above on Wednesday, September 16th.  
Third Vocabulary Assignment:  Now that you no the meaning of the word and 
the part of speech use each of these words in a sentence.  Each sentence 
must show me that you understand the meaning and usage of the word and when 
someone else reads your sentence they understand clearly what the word 
means.  Each word must have its own sentence.  Write these sentences in your 
notebook under the vocabulary.  You may type the sentences and staple them 
into your reading notebook.  These sentences are due on Friday, September 
18th.  
Fourth Vocabulary assignment:  We will have a test on these words on Monday, 
September 21st.

Finish reading one of the three summer books and write your book report, due 
Friday, September 4th.  ( I will give time in class on Wednesday to type the 
book report.  It must  be typed.(The format is given below.)  First reading 
log is due September 8th, 
Tuesday,  After that there is a reading log due every Monday through to the 
end of the quarter.  READ, READ, READ!!!! If you cannot find a book you want 
to read please see me immediately on Monday so I can help you!!!!

Writing.  I will be using the Traits of Writing to grade the book report.  


September 1:  Read summer book, read AR and work on writing book report for 
summer reading.  Remember we will be typing in the computer room on Friday 
so 
bring what you have written for your book report or bring the summer reading 
book to read and finish.
