As we start our year together, I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome
you and share with you some personal beliefs statements. In doing so, I hope
we can achieve a common understanding of what it means to be a member of a
learning community.
I believe very strongly that our classroom must be a community of faith, a
community in which the Gospel values are a day-to-day lived reality.
Message, community, and service should not be something we just talk about,
but, rather, something that is evident in all our interactions with one
another. To enable this to happen, an atmosphere of mutual respect and
reveence for each one as gift and gifted from God is essential. All students
should feel valued for who they are as a unique individual and, as such, have
a right to be treated with dignity, fairness, and courtesy.
To this end, then, I invite the students to come with
an attitude of openness that will allow growth to happen
a willingness to be an active participant in class
a respect for their own right and the right of all students to learn
a desire to use their talents and abilities for the good of all
I look forward to working with the parents and the students. May our time
together be a positive one, rich in challenges and rewards.
