At Home Project!
We will be learning about many different types of Native American tribes in
our new social studies unit! Since there are so many different types of
tribes that lived in many different areas across the Untied States, you will
be focusing on one specific tribe and doing a mini report on that tribe. You
will be presenting your report to the class along with a model of the type of
home your tribe lived in.
The report should be 4 different pages. Each page will be one paragraph
describing each of the 4 parts below. (I will be sending home good copy pages
for your report.)
Page 1: Jobs (What types of jobs did the men, women and children have in your
tribe?)
Page 2: Clothing (What type of clothing did your tribal people wear? Is
clothing different for men, women and children? How did they get their
clothes? Did they have to make them? What were the clothes made out of? How
did they clean their clothes?)
Page 3: Homes (What types of homes did your tribe live in? Is there a special
name for your tribe’s home? How did they make/build their homes? What part of
the United States did they live in?)
Page 4: Interesting Facts! (What are some interesting facts about your tribe
that many people may not know? What kinds of artifacts or crafts did they
like to make? What games did they like to play? What did they like to do for
fun? Was there a special Chief that was the leader of your tribe?)
*** You will also need to make a model of the type of home that your tribe
lived in! You may use the natural resources around you just as your tribe may
have done. It is up to you how you would like to create your tribal home!
Be creative!
***Make sure that you write at least 1 paragraph (3-5 sentences) for each
page of your report as well as an illustration. The front of your report
should have the name of your Native American tribe as well as your name. You
can be as creative as you would like with how you put your report together!
Remember you will be presenting your tribe to the class, so do your best!
