Morning Arrival Procedure for 7B

1. When you are dismissed from the playground, come upstairs in a
quiet and orderly manner.

2. Do not go to your homeroom until you have stopped at your
locker, unpacked, and picked up your morning books.

3. If you packed a lunch, put it in the crate.

4. Put your attendance card in the proper slot for lunch:
packing, monthly, weekly, or daily. On the first day of the
week, put your money envelope in the bag. Student attendance
helpers will announce table washers, (2-weeks at a time).

5. Go to your seat, open your book, and read. There should be no
talking.

6. Wait for the prayer, pledge, and announcements.

7. A student will be assigned, (a 2-week period), for those days
when we do our own prayer and pledge. If you are the Prayer
Leader, you should come prepared with a prayer that is different
from the standard ones we say all the time. Inspire us!

7th Grade Lockers and 6th-8th Textbooks

1. You will be assigned a locker number for the year.

2. Because the lockers are small, no mirrors, dry erase boards,
or other decorations are permitted in or on the outside of your
locker. Think of your locker as your desk. It is a place to
store things you will need throughout the day.

3. The following items may be stored in your locker: All books,
notebooks, and folders; gym clothes and shoes, (in a drawstring
bag, if possible, or some other appropriate container); backpack,
sweatshirt or coat, and backpack. Sport bags will be stored in
the multipurpose room downstairs. None of these items may be
stored in the classroom. Any extra materials you have should be
taken home and brought back to school as needed. DUE TO FIRE
CODES, NOTHING MAY BE STORED ON TOP OF THE LOCKERS.

4. It is your responsibility to keep your locker clean and
orderly. Locker inspections will take place once per week. The
first infraction will result in a warning, the second, a lunch
detention to clean out and tidy up your locker, the third will
result in a loss of locker for one day. Repeated infractions may
result in loss of locker for an extended period of time.

5. Students will go to lockers in the morning upon arrival and
before leaving school for the day. There will also be one other
time when you will be permitted to go to lockers and that will be
when you exchange morning for afternoon books. Organization is
an important skill to develop. As a general rule, asking to go
to a locker because you left something in it that was needed for
class, will not be permitted.

6. All textbooks must be covered by the end of the first week.

Procedure for Arriving to Science/Health Class

1. Enter the lab quietly, through the entrance door, and put
your books in a cubby.

2. Bring your science textbook, notebook, agenda, independent
reading book, and supply case to your seat. No other textbook but
science is permitted in the seating area of the lab.

3. Open your textbook and notebook to the place where we
finished the last time we met and get out your pen.

4. If class has not started, read independently.

Procedure for Leaving Science/Health Class

1. When the bell rings and I have told you to do so, go back to
your cubby and retrieve your other books.

2. Bring them back to your seat, gather your science materials,
and leave through the exit door.

3. There is very little time between classes so lingering and
chatting is not a good idea.

Daily Science Lab Expectations and Rules for Safety

1. Come to your seat prepared for class and ready to learn:
textbook and notebook open, your pen out, your eyes forward,
voice quiet.

2. Due to time constraints, cubbies and lab tables are not
places to converse with friends. Unless told to do so, turning
around in your seat is not permitted.

3. Unless it is an emergency, asking to leave the classroom to
use the restroom or to get a drink will not be permitted. There
are appropriate times to accomplish these tasks other than during
class.

4. The lab is NEVER a place for horseplay. The potential for
injuring yourself or others exists daily. You must be in control
of your body at all times and you must always be aware of your
surroundings. Failure to follow lab safety guidelines could
result in serious consequences.

5. Feet are not permitted on the rungs of the stools and the
four legs must remain on the floor at all times. Leaning back to
rocking back and forth is not permitted.

6. Writing on or carving into stools or tables is unacceptable
behavior.

7. Any spills must be cleaned up immediately.

8. Failure to follow these rules could result in you having to
replace any furniture you damage.

PIN Numbers

1. You will be assigned a PIN (personal identification number)
for the year.

2. This number must appear on everything that is turned in to me
throughout the year. Failure to do so could result in a loss of
a point on an assignment, quiz, project, or test.

3. Staying organized is an important skill to develop. If we
all do our part to be organized then everyone benefits!

Procedures for Being Absent from Class

1. It is your responsibility to obtain missed class notes and
other assignments, both of which appear on the website. See me
before or after school, during study hall, or at recess to find
out what you missed, not before, after, or during class.

2. Homework must be corrected and the score turned in to me
within the number of days you were absent to avoid receiving a
zero for the assignment. I will not ask you for work you missed
while you were absent.

3. Study guides are online well ahead of a test and most quizzes
are announced a couple of days before they are given. Therefore,
you should expect to make up a missed quiz or exam on the day you
return to school from being absent.

Exceptions may be made but you must talk with me about the
circumstances ahead of time. You may be asked to stay after
school to make up a test or other lengthy assignment.

4. The same rules apply for projects and other work that are
listed above for tests and quizzes.

5. Work cannot be given for unexcused absences. However, all
missed work, including tests, must be completed within one week
of your return.

6. Have your parent call for homework, even if you are only
going to be absent for one day. It has been our experience in
the junior high that missing even one day may have you spending a
week catching up on what you missed, in addition to the regular
day's work you will have to complete.

Study Hall Policies for 7B

1. You will return to your homeroom at the end of the day for a
study hall that lasts about 20 minutes.

2. There will be NO TALKING during study hall. Think of it as a
class. The purpose of it is for you to get a jump on your
homework, to finish a test, or to see a teacher who has asked you
to do so. It is not for socializing, or being up out of your
seat. You may use the restroom with my permission.

3. You may sign out on the white board by the door to see a
teacher. You do not need my permission to do so; I just need to
know where you are. When you return, you simply cross off your
name so I know you're back.

4. If you have no homework in an afternoon subject you will be
permitted to go to your locker to obtain the book you need to use
to do homework. Sitting and doing nothing during study hall is
not acceptable behavior. If a pattern develops regarding going
to your locker and not returning promptly, you may not be
permitted to do so.

5. Consequences will be assessed for those students who choose
not to follow the rules during study hall.
