JH students are abuzz with ideas for their "Egg Drop" vehicles! I'm really looking forward to seeing the various designs when the posters are turned in on Tuesday. Please remind your sons and daughters not to forget that their one-page paper is due the day before we leave for break, Tuesday, 24 November. Students who may be leaving early should turn in this assignment before they depart.
For those participating in this month's Science Club challenge, "Marshmallow Mania," I am in the process of constructing the launch zone. We will meet on Wednesday, 11/18, from 3:00-4:30 in the lab.
Meanwhile, we continue to work our way through the four-section chapter on "Forces in Motion". Students should still prepare for a quiz after each assignment. This week we'll complete the "friction" section and then it's on to "gravity" next week.
Because the 8th grade will be at NC on Wednesday, and Bazaar Day will be a crazy one, schedule-wise, students may view one or two videos from United Streaming mid-week, that put a "real-world" face on the forces that affect motion.
This will be the last issue until after the holiday. I'll be back online with an update for the week of 30 November. May all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families. We're spending the holiday with Sarah and Jeff, and our three grandchildren! I have so much to be thankful for, not the least of which is having the privilege of teaching your children every day!
