Our History studies begin with a chapter on the Byzantine and Muslim
Civilizations. This chapter looks at the Byzantine Empire, which survived the
fall of the Roman Empire, as well as the beginnings of Islam and the golden
age of Muslim civilization.
The test on this chapter will be Monday, November 23. Students should re-read
the chapter, pages 8-33, study the Key Terms, the Assessments in their
folders, and the Section Reviews as they are returned. There will be one
essay question, list and describe the Five Pillars of Islam. For this essay,
they need to study the chart on page 21.
As always, the online practice test can be taken, corrected on the computer,
printed out, and turned in for extra credit. The webcode for the practice
test is on page 33.
We will be going to the Cincinnati Museum Center on December 10 for the
Egyptian exhibit and Omnimax film. The permission slip for this field trip
was sent home today. The completed permission slip and admission fee need to
be returned by Friday, November 20.
