Library usage Policy

St. Jude Library Policies

•	All grades have a weekly ½ hour to forty five minute Library class
period scheduled. However, children are able to use the Library whenever
they need to come. With their teacher's permission, students may come to the
library when the posted schedule in their classroom says “open” for
browsing, book exchange, or reference work.

•	The library is another classroom. Students are to behave just as
quietly and mannerly as they do in their classroom

•	If you need to speak with another student please do so in a whisper.

•	The Library is for Reading and Research, NOT homework!

•	When you browse, put books and other materials back in the correct
place, if you do not know where something goes please place it on the return
cart.

•	Library is a privilege to use-use it wisely.

•	There are no fines charged for overdue items, but prompt return is
expected. Children with many overdue items may be restricted from further
borrowing until the overdues are returned or renewed. Instead of making
money off of overdue books I encourage every family to donate a book through
the birthday book club.

•	Borrowers are responsible for materials signed out to them. Any lost
or damaged library materials must be paid for.

Care of Books

•	Treat your library books as if YOU owned them.
•	No eating while reading
•	Keep your books safe out of your little sibling’s hands.
         Keep them dry.
•	If a book has been torn, or the binding is broken please let the
librarian know so it can be repaired
•	Hold/carry library books securely- don’t throw them in the air
•	Please keep all sticker/labels attached to the books
•	Please use a bookmark to mark your page.
