NewsletterNovember 30, 2009 I hope that everyone had a wonderfully, relaxing Thanksgiving holiday. This week we will be reading the next story in our reader, From Seed to Plant. We will be reading this story several times in class and they will be bring it home to read to you. On Monday we will be making our vocabulary cards and learning the words in our story. The test for From Seed to Plant will be on Friday, 12/4. We will be working on the next lesson in our Spelling Book. The pretest will be on Monday, 11/30. The words as well as the alternate list, will be posted on Spelling City by Monday afternoon. The test on these words will be on Friday, 12/4. We will also be continuing with our Reconciliation Book and will be making our Reconciliation vases this week and next. The celebration of First Reconciliation will be on Sturday, 12/12 at 10:00 AM in Church. The children are very excited and have been working hard on memorizing the Act of Contrition. I will be quizzing each child individually on Monday, 12/7 to make sure they have memorized the prayer. If you could continue to practice at home that would be great and we will continue to practice at school. We will also be having our next book test on Thursday, 12/3. Just continue to go over the highlighted parts of the chapters. This is what will be on the test. We will also be continuing on with Saxon Math and with Simple Solutions. We will be having another timed test on addition facts so if they could continue to practice these at home that would be great. We will also be having another Simple Solution test on things practiced up to this point on Thursday, 12/3. The projects for our Native American unit in Social Studies turned out GREAT! The kids were very proud to talk about the work they did for their projects. I was very proud of them. Just a reminder that Progress Reports will be going home on Friday, 12/4. These will be due back signed by Friday, 12/11. I am in need of a few parents to come and help the kids to assemble their Reconcilation vases. Please, if you are interested in helping, let me know and I can set everyone up in the auditorium. Well, that's all for this week. I hope it's a good one! Mrs. Helbling |
