For Your Information

Thank you to all the parents for your help and sharing your children
with me. This is another wonderful class. I am so blessed to be here at St.
Mary School. I'm sure you will also enjoy your school experience here. This
year as part of our language arts curriculum our class will learn the
beginning basics of reading. We will study the letters out of order which
insures that the children really know them, as well as they will be able to
read, spell, and print some simple words after just the first 9 letters.
This will help to build confidence and excitment about reading.

We will study the letters in the following
order: c,o,a,d,g,m,l,h,t,i,j, k,p,ch,u,b,r,f,n,e,s,sh,th,w,wh,y,v,x,z,th,qu

Please review them with the children and practice at home as we study them in
class.

The children will have homework in reading after the first of the year.
Their take home reading will require an adult to read with them each night
Monday thru Thursday and keep a log. I will give you more information on
this as we begin the homework program.

Fun activities to do might be to add a magnet letter to your refrigerator as
we study it, then start to build words as more letters are added. Read
together and point out words that start with the letter being studied. Your
children work very hard for me all day in class, they will need to run and
play at the end of the day so they will be ready to settle in and do more
the next school day.

All children will need to know their full name, home address including city
and state, and phone number. Please work on this at home as well as how to
tie a shoe.

The schedule of special classes at this time:
Monday* Music
Tuesday Religion 1PM Mrs. Krick the Bible Story Teller
Wednesday* Religion Spanish
Thursday Library, Afternoon Music Art
Friday P.E. Computer Lab

*Please send children wearing their gym shoes. With 30 students we do not
have time to change shoes in class. Thanks for your help in this.
We attend Mass once a month in addition to All School Mass and special prayer
services as arranged. Parents are always welcome to join us. We sit in the
front 4 rows on the Left side of the church. Listen to the Hotline message
for dates and changes in schedules. I'm looking forward to a great year
ahead. Thanks for all you do. It is clear that you have done
an awesome job preparing them for Kindergarten.
