State Project -- Grade 2

This project will be done in two Microsoft PowerPoint presentations.  The 
first presentation will be consist of 6 slides.  Each slide will contain the 
following information:

Slide 1 -- The name of the state in WordArt.
           The nickname of the state in quotation marks.
           (ie. "The Buckeye State") Font sizes: 60 bold
Slide 2 -- When did "Their State" become a state?  Font size: 60 bold
Slide 3 -- Abbreviation
           Capital
           Largest City    All centered, font size: 60 bold
Slide 4 -- Population  Font size: 60 bold
Slide 5 -- State Flag  Font size: 60 bold
Slide 6 -- State Bird &
           State Flower  Font size: 60 bold

Students will add their name to the lower right hand corner.  They will 
click in the Main Menu on VIEW, MASTER HANDOUT  They will then 
delete (#) from the lower right hand corner and type in their name.  Font 
size:12 Bold. They will delete the header, footer and the date.

Students will then save this presentation as State 1.
This presentation will be printed as a handout with 6 slides per page on 
regular paper.

Students will then open a second PowerPoint Presentation.  This presentation 
will also consist of 6 slides.  Each slide will contain the following 
information:

Slide 1 -- Students will copy and paste the map of their state from 
           Enchanted Learning.
Slide 2 -- Students will type in the date their state became a state.
           They will also indicate which number of state it is. 
           (24th State, etc.)  Font size: 60 bold
Slide 3 -- Students will include the following:
           Abbreviation: Insert the state abbreviation
           Capital: Insert State capital
           Largest City: Insert name of largest city   
         All information is centered and Font size: 54 bold
Slide 4 -- Students include the following:
           Population:  Insert number of people who live in the state
           Then add where the population falls among all 50 states.
           (ie. It has the 16th largest population in the United States.)
          Font size: 54 bold
Slide 5 -- Students will copy and paste their state flag.
Slide 6 -- Students will insert a picture of their state bird and state 
           flower.  Students will identify the name of each under the
           picture.  Font size: 40 bold

Students will then click on the Main Menu on VIEW, MASTER HANDOUT.  They will 
delete (#) from the lower right hand corner.  They will also delete the 
header, footer and date.

Students will then save this presentation as State 2. This presentation will 
be printed as a handout with 6 slides per page on card stock.
