News for the Week of May 21st:
We
will
use our
Simple Solutions #104-107
program this week.
The children will need to read an AR book for May. They need to complete this assignment by May 22nd.
Their grade will be counted as a test grade in reading. They will not complete a book report for these books. The students were given a reading response sheet last week to help them keep track of the amount of time they spend reading each night. These need to be completed and returned each Friday for an assignment grade.
Monday is our field trip to the library to learn about the summer reading program. the children will bring home a bookmark with all the information you need to register them for this program. Happy Summer Reading!!!
The third graders are going to sponsor a fund raiser to help Logan raise money for Leukemia research.
We will have a
Lunch for Logan on May 24th.
The children will be selling lemonade and baked goods. Some of the children want to make a craft item to sell. We will be relating this experience to our social studies unit goals on community business. The children will need to record their costs for the project, including money and time. I will be sending home a letter for you to confirm your child's choice for helping at the lunch period. I want the children to do the work. You can help them get supplies, provide the place for them to work, and advise them on setting a cost for their product .
Our school has purchased the summer math program from Simple Solutions for all third grade students. Please see the announcement in the Bruin bulletin. This will be a great way for the children to keep their skills fresh and lead to a successful transition to fourth grade. The transition to grade 4 can be very difficult. Summer routines and learning are very helpful in aiding your child with the changes in the fall.
