About The Teacher

Hi! I am Mrs. Winters. I am looking forward to meeting my new class for the 2009-2010 school year. We are going to have an exciting year! I have been a Cincinnatian for most of my life (since I was 10). I went through the Cincinnati Public School system (where I decided at the age of 11 that I was going to be a teacher ). After graduation I went to Morehead State University. I got married the summer before my senior year and transferred to U.C. I taught at St. Gertrude Academy until I had my first child and then I became a full time mommy . When my husband became permanently disabled, it was time for me to return to my career. I returned to teaching full time, here at St. Teresa, in 1998. My husband Rick and I have been married 30 years and have three beautiful grown children: Jenni, Jason and Jessica, as well as the new men in the family: Dave and Nathan. I also have three beautiful granddaughters: Jasmine is 6, Skylar is 2 and Jillian was born March 23, 2009. I am a devout Christian (Southern Baptist by faith) and enjoy sharing God's love with my students. I also teach Sunday School, VBS (actually I am the VBS director at our church), Bible studies...wherever God leads me. In my "spare time" I love to read, scrapbook, work and play on my computer and spend time with my family and friends. Next to God and my family, teaching is my passion! The other thing people would say about me is that I love to laugh! God is good and I try to enjoy the life He has blessed me with. I think second graders are at a wonderful age and we have a great time together. If you could be a fly on the wall, you would often find us laughing, sharing, singing (I think many children learn through music)and enjoying learning! We love to laugh while we learn! MY FAVORITES Season: Spring and summer (it is a tie) Item to Collect: cute salt and pepper shakers and cookie jars, penguins and snowmen. Holiday: Christmas Type of Food: Italian (well, actually my favorite food is chocolate!) I am a carb lover - pasta and bread! I love the rolls at Texas Roadhouse! Restaurant: Olive Garden or Texas Roadhouse Sweet Treats: Yummy homemade cookies and other homemade treats are the quickest way to my heart! Kit Kat bars, rich chocolate cake with raspberries, strawberries! Drink: Caffeine Free Diet Coke, ice cold bottled water Children's Authors: Robert Munsch, Max Lucado Flower: Carnation Candle Scent: Cinnamon, vanilla, pina colada Subject to Teach: Phonics, Math (I like them all!) Vacation Spot: I hope to someday go to a beach where the sand is white and the water is crystal clear. (We have not had much opportunity for travel but I can dream!) Song: How Great is Our God, I Loved Her First, Music: Contemporary Christian Bible Verse: Jeremiah 29:11 and Proverbs 3:5-6

My Mission for Our Class

It is my mission that our children grow academically, spiritually and
emotionally in a safe, loving environment.
It is my goal for the children to develop a deeper understanding of God's
unconditional love and to understand that God is always there for them...
their Forever Friend. I feel that I am an ambassador for God and want the
children to see God's love and care for them shining through me. My desire
is for them to know that I accept them and will care for them, no matter
what.
However, they will also learn that there are loving consequences for actions
and they are responsible for choices that they make.
I hope to encourage your children to develop a lifelong love of learning!
