 What are Accelerated Reader books?
Accelerated Reading books each have a computerized quiz that students take 
after reading a book in their reading level.  This test is to see how well 
they have comprehended what they have just read.
All of our AR books are marked with a dark green dot on the spine of the 
book, and the reading level is marked on the inside back cover.

 What is the STAR test?
The STAR test is a timed computerized test given to the students to 
determine what their reading level will be for the Accelerated Reading 
program. 
This test is also given throughout the school year to see if the student's 
reading level is improving.

 What grades use  Accelerated Reader quizzes and STAR tests?
Grades 2-8 will be tested the last week in August on the STAR program, and 
begin taking AR tests in September after the library classes start.
The 1st grade will begin using both of the programs after the Christmas 
break. More information will be sent to their parents closer to that time.

The dates have not been set as of now, but they will be sometime in January 
and May.

 Can we suggest AR titles ?
Teachers, students and parents are always welcome to make suggestions for 
new titles for AR tests. If the title is available, we certainly will 
consider it.

 How many AR  tests does St. Teresa have?
St. Teresa has over 2500 AR tests for our students to choose from. Levels 
range from 0.4 to 12.9. 
There are more tests for the Fiction section, but we do have some titles in 
the Non-Fiction and Biography  sections.

 Can we check online to see what books or fines our sons/daughters have ?
Beginning this year parents will be able to get online and see what books 
their child has checked out,see if they have overdues or any fines on late 
books.  More information will be sent home after the Library classes begin 
in September.

 How do we know what titles St. Teresa has  Accelerated Reader tests for?
All titles are on the St. Teresa web page. You can check by title, author or 
book level. The Covedale Library also has a print out of the titles in their 
Children's section
