Each quarter, students will be expected to read at least 1 book on their own
for a book report . The book should be at the appropriate reading level for
the child. In the second quarter we will also read a book as a class.
There will be assignments (book report projects) to complete for each book.
Many of these activities will be very simple and take a minimal amount of
time to finish. Students will be allowed to work on these assignments during
school if they have finished their other work.
Students will also be required to take at least one Accelerated Reader test
per quarter on an additional independent reading book. This will count
towards the reading grade for the quarter. They may take as many additional
tests as they like.
Book Report due Dates:
Realistic Fiction: October 2(choose book by September 11)
Historical Fiction: December 11(choose book by November 20)
Expository Nonfiction (Informational): February 26(choose book by February 5)
Biography: May 7(choose book by April 17)
