Dear Parents,
Great News!
Father Bolte picked me to be the teacher representative on the mission trip
to the Philippinees. About two weeks ago, he sent us a letter requesting
that one of the teachers volunteer to be part of the twinning project of the
parish. I was very interested because Jimmy, my son, went to visit his
best friend who worked there for two years with the Peace Core. When I
called down to the Archdiocese to find out more about the trip, I found out
that we were going to visit my aunt's brother, who has been a Franciscan
priest over there for over 50 years. What a small world! I also e-mailed
Bishop Chris and he said it would be a great opportunity for me, and that I
am a very mission minded person, and it would be a tremendous experience for
me and the people that I would meet. So I am very thankful that Father
Bolte picked me to go.
The children are excited about making their "Me Collage" that are due the
end of September. I gave each of them a piece of poster board that I got for
free because I volunteered at Crayone to Computers. They also must write a
paragraph or two about themself, and their pictures.
I can't belioeve that half of the first quarter is over. Please look for
your child's interim this Friday. If your child has any "Do Over" papers,
please let them do them over and return them to me as soon as possible.
Thank you for helping your child learn, and encourage him/her to do the best
that he/she can do.
In Math, we are studying the addition facts. We are doing Rocket
Math like Mrs. Mc Grath's room. We have mastered goals A, B and C. If you
have a computer, Mrs. Vogt showed the kids some websites so that they can
practice on the computer. If they know their basic facts it will help them
on their everyday math pages. We are also studying money. Let your child
play with real money. Pretend you are buying something, and figure out how
much he/she will get back in change.
If you have any questions, please write me a note in your child's plan
book,or e-mail me, and I will answer it.
Love & Prayers,
Mrs. Garner
P.S. The Mission trip is January 19th-January 29th.
