Book Reports

You must read an entire chapter book (60-100 pages) in your Accelerated Reader level each month. Each report must include the title and author of the book and your name. You will be required to turn your book report in and take an Accelerated Reading test on it by the due dates below. Your grade each month will be a combination of three things:

1. AR test

2. Written book report

3. Monthly project

Each month, in addition to the following, you must summarize the plot (the action of the story), the characters (the people involved), and the setting (where and when the story takes place) in your report. These should be no longer than two pages. They may be hand written or typed.

OCTOBER: Complete “Create a Web” paper (attached) and write or type a paragraph or two about the story you read. These will be due by Wednesday,October 31st

NOVEMBER: Make a shadow box, using a shoebox, showing some scene or event from your book. On the back of your box, explain the scene in one paragraph. These will be due on Friday, November 30th

DECEMBER: Make a poster showing characters and/or a scene from your book. Identify your poster by writing a brief description (one paragraph) on the back. These will be due by Wednesday, December 19th

 JANUARY: Draw a series of pictures (4-8) to illustrate your story. Put them in the correct order to tell about the plot. Under each picture, write a sentence or two about it.

Design a new cover for your book showing some scene or event from the book. On the inside of the cover, tell about your book in one or two paragraphs. These will be due by Wednesday, January 31st.

FEBRUARY: Write a report giving the title, author, setting (where and when the story takes place), main characters, a summary and your opinion of the book.

-OR-

Write a letter to me telling about the book and why you liked or disliked it. Use proper letter form and make it sound like a letter. Put your letter in an envelope properly addressed to:
