Who provides Internet access for the school?
Our Internet service is a 3 MB fiber line with service provided by
Time Warner. H/CCA is our Internet provider. Their services also include a
firewall and Internet filtering to meet the standards of the Children's
Internet Protection Act.
What is the address of the St. Teresa of Avila School website?
Our address is www.stteresa.net
How often do the students attend classes in the computer lab?
Each class comes to the computer lab at least once a week. Teachers can
also request another class period for special projects.
When is the computer lab open?
Students may come to the computer lab before school from 7:15-8:00AM except
on Wednesday morning, during lunchtime, and after school from 2:30-3:00PM.
Students must sign up to use the lab during those times. A signed noted from
a parent is required if the student plans to come to the computer lab after
school.
The lab is open during the school day for computer classes. Students may
also come to the lab with the permission of their teachers during the school
day if the computers are not in use.
When may students use laptop computers?
Usually teachers request laptop computers for classroom use. If students
wish to use a laptop at another time, they must get permission from their
classroom teacher. The students are responsible for the laptop they are
using. If the laptops are used for activities other than classroom
assignments and homework, the studnts will no longer be allowed to use the
laptops.
How do students move files from home to school computers?
Students are given several options to move files to other computers. The
student, however, must know what operating system they have, and what
version of the program they are using. The options are: floppy disk, zip
disk, CD disk, flash drive, or email. The students are always asked what
option if better for them and their home computer. We use Microsoft Office
for many of our projects. If your software is different, please save to a
type of file that is compatible with Office.
