This past week in language arts, we became familiar with the letter and letter sound of 'Ss'. We used Santa (of course) as our them for the week. We created story maps helping us recall details from several stories. We focused on the idea of plot (the beginning, middle and ending of a story) to create these. We also recalled various sight words
Red Words and practiced rhyming and sequencing.
In math this past week, we finished creating our own graphs based on our surveys and practiced graph making using a game called 'Roll and Record'. This game helped us to practice counting while using dice. The children also recalled the vocabulary words most, least and equal. We also practiced patterns, counting and recognizing the numbers 11-20 in a game called 'Santa Math'. Santa helped us with many fun counting moments this week!
In social studies, we finished our study about wants and needs as well as became familiar with our diversity through our special show-and-tell traditions projects. We enjoyed learning about the similarities and differences between us.
We are 'Ss'oooo excited about 'Ss'anta coming to town!
Have a wonderful Christmas vacation together!
Fondly,

Jeanette
