Learning Through Love and Logic!
In our classroom the children and I refer to and use a program entitled
Love and Logic to help guide us to have positive interactions and behaviors
with one another in the classroom. This plan and way of thinking helps
each child grow and mature in his/her ability to problem solve throughout the
school day. Here are the ideas we discuss and use each day.
1. I will treat you with respect so you will now how to treat me.
2. Feel free to do anything you want to do as long as it does not cause a
problem for you or anyone else around you.
3. If you cause a problem, I will ask you to solve it.
4. If you can’t solve the problem or choose not to, I will do something.
5. What I do will depend on the special person you are and the special
situation we are having.
6. Always do your best!
Many students like to challenge the guidelines/rules at some point in the
school year. Most of the time a small, private discussion or missing a few
minutes of recess for “thinking time” in regard to the misbehavior is enough
to help each child “get back on track”. If problems occur on a regular basis,
I will contact you to discuss the situation.
