Thank you very much for sending the letters in with your child for the OAA's.  They had the best smiles while reading their letters each day and you could tell that it meant a great deal.

Our May PTA meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, May 1st from 6 - 7pm in the Echo Hills Library.  Please consider attending our final meeting for the 2011 - 2012 meeting.  We will be discussing some of the upcoming events as we close out the school year and some new events for the 2012-2013 school year.  We offer free child care during all our meetings.



Literacy.jpgLiteracy Night-Thursday, May 3rd 5:00-7:00

Echo Hills will have a Literacy & Free Pizza Night this coming Thursday, May 3rd.  Mrs. Gries planned this wonderful event.  Last year was a huge success!  We are looking forward to this year!

Parents- Please don't forget your SECRET homework assignment. 


In order to receive your child's final report card, please return the envelop (sent home last Tuesday) self addressed and with a stamp.


The Reading OAA is on Wednesday April 25 and the Math OAA is on Friday, April 27.  Please make sure that your child gets plenty of rest the night before, eats a healthy breakfast and arrives to school on time. 


     3/28 Spring Pictures

              *Order forms were sent home on 3/26.

     3/30 End of Grading Period and 1:30 Early Dismissal

              *Your child will be dismissed in their usual mode of transportation unless we receive a note.

     4/5 Report cards will be sent home.

Right to Read Week-Monday

February 27th -Friday, March 2nd

There are many great activities planned this week in honor of Right to Read Week! Each day, the entire school will read in the hall after lunch for ten minutes. There will also be a Hawaiian fact shared on the announcements daily in honor of our theme this year, Book Fair Luau, It’s a Reading Celebration!

 

Monday February 27th

·         Read a Shirt Day: wear a shirt with writing on it

·         Kick Off Assembly- SMFHS Marching Band will be here!

·         20,000 minute challenge begins

           

 

Tuesday February 28th

·         Teddy Bear Day: Bring a friend to read to.

·         Mystery Reader will visit Room 19 today!

·         Room 19 will preview the book fair today! Students will bring a wish list home today.

           

 

Wednesday February 29th

·         Hawaiian Day- shirt, sunglasses, etc…

·         Scholastic Book Fair-Shopping Day for Room 19

·         Family Night

 

Thursday March 1st

·         Mismatch\Crazy Hair Day

 

Friday March 2nd

There is no school for students tomorrow, Tuesday 11/8!

K Kids is having a food drive from now until November 18th. They are asking for nonperishable food items. 
The class that brings in the most food will earn a pizza party!
K-Kids will be donating it to the Open M organization so they can provide food for Thanksgiving to local families in need.  Thank you in advance!

Book Bistro Report is due on Wednesday.  Fluency homework will be given this week, but there will not be a spelling test on Friday.

Please remember to wear red, white and blue in remembrance of 9/11 on Friday and Monday. The students listened to a book called September 11, 2001  (a simple account for children), written by Nancy Poffenberger, who was a former elementary school teacher.  We also made American Flags to honor our American Heroes.

*Fall Fundraiser items will be coming home on Friday 9/2 as well as the first Scholastic Book flier.  Directions on how to order online can be found under our Scholastic Book Club link to the left. September orders are due by 10/7.

We had a great first week of school.  Students are becoming familiar with the rules and procedures in Room 19. 

 A test email was sent on Wednesday.  Thank you to the parents that have replied to that email.  If you did not receive it, please email us at st_delorenzo@smfcsd.org in order to verify that we have your correct email address.

Students that are interested in running for Student Council have been asked to write a short speech explaining why they would make a good candidate.  A letter from Miss Bochert was sent home on Friday explaining Student Council.  We will hold elections this week to nominate our Room 19 representatives.
