<div style="FONT-FAMILY: Comic Sans MS; FONT-SIZE: 18pt" align="center"></div>         For the next two weeks in guided reading we will be learning about the different animal groups.  This week we will discuss animal habitats and become familiar with two of the animal groups, amphibians and insects.      The next two weeks, the class will work on animal reports.  Each student can select an animal to write about.  They can use books to get information from and also use the internet.  The work will be done during school.         In math the class will be learning about adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers.  The class will also be doing explorations with capacity, symmetry, and heights.  Practice basic addition/ subtraction facts at home.  Please have your child complete the math home-link assignments given and return to school the next day.      In science this past week we talked about the life cycles of a butterfly and a ladybug.  We have five caterpillars in our classroom that we are watching go through the different life cycles to become butterflies!      The Mother's Day Magic Show will be Tuesday, May 15th.  It will take place in our classroom from 2:30 to 3:15.  Please make sure your child is able to do a simple magic trick for Tuesday's show.  The trick should be a surprise for mom!      Mrs. Brown-Latimer, the art teacher, would like each student to bring in a bag of pretzels.  Classes earn pretzel parties for good behavior and getting their work done.      Book-in-a-bag books need to be returned on Mondays.  Mrs. Duwve's students need to be returned on Fridays.  Please be sure your child reads his/her book each night.  Regular library books are due on Tuesdays.      Each day after morning recess, our class has snack time.  Please make sure that your child brings a healthy snack to school every day.
