After High School . . . now what?
3 - 5 College Choices
Dream, realistic, safe
Look at all spectrums of the college
Distance, major, social life, etc.
3 per school year prior to May 1
Get a college visit form from attendance office prior to visit
Get signatures from the college you visit
Internet vs. Hard copy
Some colleges waive application fee
Many colleges have a counselor form that needs to be sent
After you apply, you MUST have your counselor send an official transcript
--transcript request forms are in the Guidance Office
--address an envelope to the college without a return address
--include two stamps on the envelope
Obtain applications in the guidance office or at the college
Complete application, scholarships, etc.
Bring ALL application materials to your counselor
--1 postage stamp for every 3 pages plus one stamp for counselor's pages
--Recommendation (if applicable)
--Counselor's form (if applicable)
October 27, 2012 with Sept. 21 registration deadline
December 8, 2012 with Nov. 2 registration deadline
October 6, 2012 with Sept. 7 registration deadline
November 3, 2012 with Oct. 5 registration deadline
December 1, 2012 with Nov. 9 registration deadline
Scholarships and Financial Aid
Check information in the Guidance Office and the scholarship drawer -- CHECK OFTEN!
Some colleges automatically consider you financial needs when you submit your college application
3 Social Studies
1 World Studies, 1 American History, 1/2 American Government, 1/2 elective
Graduation requirements are the studen'ts responsibility
College readiness is directly related to core curriculum
