Scholarship Requirements & Guidelines
Eligibility Requirements
1. Recipients of assistance are not selected on the basis of scholarship alone, but
on the basis of all factors which the Warren G. Harding School Band Boosters
Scholarship Committee consider relevant, without regard to sex, color, ethnic
origin, religious belief, marital status, physical handicap or need.
2. Candidate must be planning enrollment at an accredited college, university,
technical school or other training school.
3. Candidate must have been a Full Time Member of a High School Band for
their Sophomore, Junior & Senior years.
4. Candidates must have a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.8
Guidelines
1. To be considered for a scholarship, candidates must obtain this information
form, and abide by its requirements.
2. Application material must be returned by Friday April 27, 2012.
3. The Scholarship Committee will review the applications and invite candidates
for a required interview, after which the committee will make their
recommendations to the Boosters. This year, candidate interviews will beheld
on Monday May 7, 2012 beginning at 6:00 p.m. The interviews will be held in
the WGH Band Room.
4. Scholarship candidates are chosen and the presentation of the scholarships
will be at the band banquet on May 18, 2012.
5. Checks will be made payable to the school or college the applicant is
attending.
Application Procedures
1. Type or Print clearly.
2. Include all the following as your application:
a. Three (3) character references (non-family members)
b. High school transcripts of courses completed (minimum of 2.8 GPA)
c. Biographical statement including:
i. Educational Background
ii. Personal History of service to the Band
iii. Community involvement
iv. Participation in other school activities & organizations
v. Other pertinent information
3. Return all completed material to:
