•All students must travel on the busses to and from all events. Please do NOT ask to pick your child
up at an event unless you are leaving for an out of town destination or there is a medical emergency.
-The reason for this is we are a team, we travel together.
-My staff and I are responsible for your children the entire time they are in uniform and with the
band. We cannot leave them alone, at an event, especially in uniform. Alone, in uniform, your child
can be a target.
-It is not fair to the other 170+ students to hold them up while we wait with your child for you to
pick them up.
•It is Board of Education Policy that staff are not supposed to transport students. However, we
cannot leave the school until all students have been transported home from an event. Sometimes we
are put in a catch 22 situation where students do not have rides home and/or parents do not come
to pick them up until 1-2 hours after the end of an event. Please make arrangements ahead of time
for the transportation of your child to and from an event. Shuttles do NOT run for performance
events.
•No student is allowed to drive to an event!
•Please make sure your child is on time. We cannot miss an event because your child arrived late.
Time schedules are laid out in great detail. Variation from the time table can result in the band
being late to a performance.
•At away games, the Booster Organization provides food for the band. If your child has special
dietary needs, please put it in writing so we can put it with their emergency form. Please discuss
with your child about throwing away food. If they do not want it, then they should not take the food
items. We do not let the students roam around and purchase food at away games because of
possible harrassment.
•At away Band Nights, make sure your child has eaten before they arrive at Harding. There usually
is no time to allow for the band students to purchase food at away band nights.
•Do not bring to the games or other performance events, special food items just for your child. It is
not fair to all the other students to have some students get preferential treatment. If you want to
bring special items for ALL of the Band, that is ok, as long as we are told ahead of time.
•To chaperone with the band, you must be a member of the Band Booster Organization.
Membership is $2.50 per year. You must sign up ahead of time with Mr. David Chappell, head of
chaperones.
•Please make sure that before performances, your child has a CLEAN summer uniform, appropriate
color underwear and socks, and gloves.
