Math Hints

Students need continuous review and practice with their multiplication and
division facts. Many get bogged down or make mistakes when working larger
multiplication and division problems because they do not know their basic
facts. Basic facts will also be important as we work through fractions.
Please help your child review and practice their facts - during commercial
time, while cleaning up the dinner table or running errands in the car. A
few minutes a day can make a big difference!

There several key components in the Everyday Math program.

Student Reference Book (SRB) - This is an excellent resource for both
students and parents, and students should get into the habit of bringing it
to and from school everyday. In school, we use this book to preview
concepts and gain base knowledge for each lesson. At home, it should be
used to reinforce or review the concepts we learned in class. Students have
been taught how to find information using the glossary, index and table of
contents.

Student Journal - This is a consumable workbook which contains
activity pages used in class for each lesson and also review pages called
"Math Boxes." The journal is split into two volumes. Please do not tear
out pages from the journal.

Study Links - These are homework pages which reinforce or extend
the concepts being studied in class.

Parent Letters - These are sent home at the beginning of each unit.
They describe the concepts being studied and provide some answers for the
study link assignments so that parents can better help students at home.
Save this page until a new one is sent home.
