Welcome to the Fourth Grade! We are eagerly looking forward to an
exciting school year with your child. We
will be incorporating many cooperative learning opportunities as well as opportunities
for students to work individually. It is
in your child’s best interest that we work together to make this year a very
productive one. We have already
discussed this plan in school, but we would appreciate it if you would please
read these guidelines carefully with your child, then please sign and return
the verification form to school. If you have any questions or concerns, please
write us a note, call the school to leave a message for us at 284-8014 and we

The Fourth Grade Team: Mrs. Buga, Mrs. Hess, Mrs. Heckenberg, and Mrs. Ziegman Promptness It is very important that your child is at
school on time. All fourth graders
should enter the building through the fourth grade door (northeast corner) by Schedule All
fourth graders will receive a copy of our daily schedule on the back of the red
take home folder. The schedule may be
change to accommodate special programs. Lunch:
Library: Tuesdays Computer Lab: Wednesdays Absences Please send a dated note to school each
time your child is absent or tardy.
Students are responsible to make up all the work assigned on the days
they are absent from school. Work will
be collected at school and an absent sheet will be filled out informing the
student what needs to be completed. Please
notify the office and make arrangements for a sibling or another Wednesday Folders Each fourth grader will have a red plastic
take home folder which will travel between home and school. Students
will empty mailboxes on Wednesdays. Be
looking for graded assignments and school communications every Wednesday! Progress reports will be sent home every
other Wednesday beginning September 16.
The folders should return to school the next day with a parent
signature. Grades Graded papers will be
sent home every Wednesday and Progress reports will be sent home every other
Wednesday. Students are expected to do their best work on
each assignment. Extra credit for
science is available on our website. The
following grading system is used in the Elyria City Schools: A 90 - 100%
C 70 - 79% D 60 - 69% F 59% or
below Homework Homework is a vital part of the academic
program. We hope that you will establish
a quiet, study period each day for homework assignments to be completed or to
review material covered in class. Math
practice and reading will be assigned daily.
Weekly assignments will be given in spelling. Assignments in social studies and science
will vary. Students will write down
their homework in their red assignment notebook. Missing homework will result in missing
recess.
RESPECT YOURSELF #1 ~ I am prepared to
learn. I have all materials and
am ready to go on time. #2 ~ I have all my homework
& assignments completed on time. #3 ~ I have my assignment
notebook filled out and signed each day. #4 ~ I make an effort to
be the best student I can be by following directions and using
my time wisely. RESPECT OTHERS #5 ~ I work
appropriately on each assigned task. #6 ~ I am polite, use
good manners and speak appropriately to others. #7 ~ I keep my hands and feet to myself. RESPECT PROPERTY #8 ~ I take care of all materials
and use them appropriately.
Consequences: 1st time a rule is broken ~ Warning 2nd time a rule is
broken ~ No Recess – automatic for
missing homework. 3rd time a rule is
broken ~ No Recess & Student reflection
sheet with parental signature required. 4th time a rule is
broken ~ All of the above and phone call
home. 5th time a rule is
broken ~ All of the above and sent to
Principal A student will be immediately removed from the classroom and sent to the office if 1. The pupil’s behavior poses
a continuing danger to persons or property. 2. The pupil’s behavior poses an ongoing threat
of disrupting school.
