WEEK OF DECEMBER 7th-11th 
 
Language Arts

Reading:This week we will be creating Cereal Box book reports on the
book/story we just completed.  The children will be summarizing, writing a
letter to a character, sequencing events formt he story, and much more.  We
will be working on these in class.


Written Expression: This week we will be working on our Cereal Box book
reports in class.

Grammar: This week we will review proper capitalization in cities, states,
dates, etc.  we will also review proper punctuation in cities, states, dates,
etc.  We will have a quiz next week over these skills.

Spelling: Our list this week are Christmas words.  the students created this
list in class together.  these words will be for the next 2 weeks.  Our final
test will be on Friday, December 18th.

Math - This week in Math we will be studying Probability.  We will be doing
many activities in class like flipping coins, rolling dice, tiles in a bag,
spinners, etc.  Please be sure to ask your child each day to share with you
the activities they did and what they learned that day.  We will have a short
test on Thursday, December 17th over Probability.  The students will have
notes in their math binders and a study guide will be coming home this
Thursday.  Be sure to look over their notes nightly to help them review.

We need to keep studying those math facts, both multiplication and
division!! Be sure to check the Math website,
http://www.smfcsd.org/math/athomeINDS.htm   For helpful tips and extra
homework problems to use for extra review.


Science - This week we will be studying the effects of earthquakes.  There
will be a quiz this Thursday,  please make sure your child is studying his/her
notes for preparation.   There is also a handout that was given in class that
needs be reviewed as well.  Have a great week!


Social Studies - This week the students will begin researching one of the many
interesting topics that we touched on, but did not have time to fully explore;
for example, Sue the T-Rex.  Topics and partners will be chosen at random from
a basket. This project will teach proper researching skills when using the
internet, and will further utilize the technology lessons learned this year.

Tues: (4) 9 – 9:40, (3) 9:40 – 10:30

Wed:    (4) 10 – 11, (3)1 :10 – 2,

              (7) 2 – 2:50

Thurs:  (3) 9 – 9:40, (7) 9:40 – 10:20

               (4) 10:20 – 11

Fri:       (4) 9 – 9:40, (3) 9:40 – 10:30

               (7) 10:30 – 11:20

* Please be sure to check your child's planner nightly for the homework given
each day.  Also,please initial so I know your child shared their work with
you and completed their homework.  Thank you!
