WEEK OF NOVEMBER 9th-13th
Language Arts
Reading:This week we will continue working on the skill cause and effect. We
will also be reviewing narrative elements this week.
Trophies - We will be reading The Emperor and the Kite. Study vocabulary
words nightly for test on Friday.
SOS - We will be reviewing chapters 8-11 this week. Students will need to
study their vocabulary words for the test on Friday.
Written Expression: This week we will be working on summaries.
Grammar: This week we will continue working on compound sentences and
conjunctions.
Spelling: Our words this week follow the rule words with the /ar/ sound.
Math - The students will continue collecting, organizing, and graphing data.
We will also be examining the data on different graphs, discussing what the
graphs mean, and comparing the data on each graph. Class discussions and
activities will be very important, so please encourage your child to
participate and pay close attention daily. The following pages from the
Investigations Home book will be helpful: pages 87-97.
We need to keep studying those math facts, both multiplication and
division!! Be sure to check the Math website,
http://www.smfcsd.org/math/athomeINDS.htm For helpful tips and extra
homework problems to use for extra review.
Science - This week in science we will begin our new unit on "Earth's Changing
Surfaces". We'll begin with an important handout that gives facts about the
earth and its layers. Please make sure your child has this handout to prepare
for upcoming quizzes. There will be no quiz this week.
Social Studies - This week we will finish the unit on Prehistoric Ohio.
Students have a complete set of notes and a memory card game. Notes & the
cards should be studied every night in preparation for the test this coming
Friday, 11/13.
