12/8 News

Some students completed their reading stories this week. All of us will have a quiz over the stories next week. Students are working on question packets, which focused on QIA (Question In Answer). Students need to remember to use words from the question when writing their answer. We discussed this each day we answered questions about our story. Most students are remembering to do this, but forgetting to look back in the story. We will continue to develop this skill. Hopefully, students are learning how important these testing skills are and will start to utilize them more often.
In math we have almost completed Unit 6 over division. Students will be taking their test over this unit next Wednesday. They do have a study guide in their INDIAN binder that they need to review. We will continue to practice both multiplication and division after break.
In language arts we continued to practice good grammar with our DLR. Students will be tested on these skills on the writing achievement test at the end of the year. Students did write a narrative this week, which I should complete grading this weekend. Our focus was on adding details to our writing. We worked together improving narratives from previous students. Hopefully, this carried over into their own writing too.
Our social studies test will be next week also. I was amazed at how much the students learned about the American Revolution. Thanks to all the parents who shared some great facts on the homework assignments. Currently we are learning about the Northwest Territory and how Ohio became the 17th state in 1803. Study guides will come home next Monday.
The Scholastic warehouse is having their annual winter sale at the Union Center exit. Everything at the warehouse is 50% off the marked price. There are some great bargains on books. Most of the inventory is books and gadgets that you see at the bookfair, but with a better price. They have lots of neat stocking stuffers also! The link to get directions and time is as follows: Scholastic Warehouse Sale

Just a reminder that our Christmas party will be Thursday, December 19th in the afternoon. Their gift for the party should have already come to school, but if it hasn't please send it in as soon as possible. Thanks! Below is a reminder list of items needed for the party also:

As we prepare for break and the holidays many students need some new supplies. Supplies could make great stocking stuffers also. Most students need pencils, erasers, dry erase markers and crayons/markers/colored pencils. You can ask your child what is needed. I know many of their INDIAN binders are falling apart also. Thanks so much for your help!

Grade printouts are coming home today! THANKS!
