In reading we finally completed our home reading. May calendars should be turned in today. If your child forgot, please remind them the calendar needs to be turned in on Monday.
We continued our literature circles this week also. Students are doing lots of reading to end the year. We focus on our reading skills when we meet. We also focus on our questioning skills, when we discuss the book with our group.
In math we completed our problem solving unit with a test on Wednesday. This was a challenging test, so we corrected these in class with some hints from me. Students are bringing these home today. Then we began a baseball math unit. We now know how to calculate our batting averages and winning percentages, which should come in handy for all those students playing baseball and softball this summer. Finally, we are gearing up for our multiplication war tournament that will begin next week.
In language arts we became authors of our own book that will come home the last day of school. Students are writing narratives about events from the year. Hopefully, these will be kept to remember the happy and sad times throughout the year.
Our rainforest celebration is right around the corner on Monday, June 1st! Thank you to all the parents that volunteered. Below are the students who need to bring in items. Many of you asked to help, but we really do not need parent assistance on that day. We would love to have you the last day of school!
Check out our last day schedule to the left. We have lots of great activities planned for you to join us. Hope to see you then!
Today your child is bringing home a red parent survey, which may be completed online also. If you would like to complete it online, click on the following link: PARENT SURVEY . If you choose to complete it online it must be done by Friday, June 5th. I can not access results after that date. Please either complete the red survey and return to school OR complete it online. Do not do both! I would appreciate your honesty when completing these. I can not improve on weak areas unless I am aware that it is a problem. Thank you so much for helping me improve my teaching!
Enjoy your weekend! Mrs. Stratton
