Don't forget there is no school Monday due to President's Day!
We had a busy week, so our Unit 8 math test was pushed back to next Wednesday,
February 18th. Students have a study guide in their INDIAN binder. Some
students are bringing home the area and perimeter quiz we took yesterday and
it needs to be corrected. The formulas are at the top of the page to help
them. Some students simply forgot to complete a problem. We have been
stressing how important it is to take your time and check over your work, but
this continues to be an issue for some.
In reading we began a new chapter book, The War with Grandpa. We will
be focusing on vocabulary and good reading strategies as we read this story.
Our ROAR focus was on predictions. Students do an exceptional job coming up
with logical predictions. The difficulty with this skill is supporting their
prediction. What details from the story made them think that would happen? We
practiced answering written questions again using QIA. Students must use this
method for all reading questions.
Finally, parent conferences are right around the corner on Thursday, March
5th. Students that I need to conference with will be bringing home letters
soon. The spring conferences are scheduled to discuss student's progress this
year in regards to placement for next year. If you do not receive a conference
note then I do not see a need to meet with you at this time. If you feel like
you would like to meet, please email me or send in a note.
With all the sickness going around the room this week, there is quite a lot of
missing work. Please check the online grades to make sure your child has
turned in all assignments.
Enjoy the extra long weekend!
