4/14 News

Students worked really hard this week reviewing their testing tips in reading. We graded our reading homework each day. Students had to check their classmates work for not only the correct answer, but also to see that they used the testing tips at home. By the end of the week everyone was on track. At the end of the week we also did a quick review of poetry.

Just a reminder the Ohio reading achievement test will be Tuesday, April 21st. Please make sure your child gets a good night's sleep and has a healthy breakfast that morning. Today students are bringing home another copy of the reading review sheet. Students should spend some time this weekend reviewing. Thanks for your support!

Our week was devoted to review in math also. We worked really hard on written response questions. Students still struggle with the example needed to explain their answer. If it says explain or describe we must use words for our answer. If it says explain or show we can give our math for the answer. Students finally understand how important it is to read directions carefully. Hopefully, this will carry over next week.

In social studies we are completing our inventor's unit with presentations on the Ohio inventor we researched. This presentation will count as the unit test. We are so close to state testing that students didn't need another test. I have been so impressed with the student's creativity. They have gone above and beyond my expectations. I think they are really enjoying working with the PowerPoint program.

Students worked on multiple choice and fill in the blank questions similar to the writing achievement test this week in language arts. They also wrote a narrative about something they did during a long break from school. These will be coming home today.

Anyone who would like to donate candy for all the testing coming up, we need bags of Starlight Peppermints, Pepp-o-mint and Wint-o-green Lifesavers, Werthers hard candy and Jolly Ranchers. Thanks so much!

 Enjoy your weekend!
