Students have lots of items to share with you tonight. They are bringing home
the slideshow that we shared in class. They are also bringing home a reading
list and some other information that is included with their report card.
Please take some time to read over these.
Don't forget to visit the library this summer to keep those reading skills
sharp. The Franklin, Miamisburg and Germantown libraries have a great summer
reading program. You can read and earn rewards for all your hard work.
Students should have a bright orange reading list that they brought home the
last week of school. This will help them find books they are interested in
reading over the summer. It is vital to your child's success in fifth grade
that they read at least every other day. They have grown so much over the
year; help them continue that growth by visiting the library. Links to our
local libraries to find out more about their summer reading programs is below.

Also there is usually a Scholastic Warehouse sale during the summer. You can
purchase books at discounted prices. Many of the titles I have in the
classroom have been purchased at the warehouse. There is not currently a sale
listed, but they usually have one in July. The link below will give you all
the needed information. Happy shopping!

Students also need to review their math facts all summer long. I will be
keeping my website through the summer and students may use the student math
links to practice. The Just the Facts site allows them to take online timed
tests. The Level 2 test under Math Magic is the best, but it gives the
students 5 minutes. They really need to complete the problems in 3 minutes.
There are many other games that help them review the basic facts. Also
Leapfrog has games that can be purchased to help them study those basic facts.
Whatever you may do this summer, may your teams do well and may you have an
enjoyable time! Rest and relax! It has been a great year! The students have
worked hard and we've all learned so much. You should receive a letter with
your report cards updating you on your child's growth this year. Hopefully
this gives you a good idea of the strengths and weaknesses your child has and
maybe what you can focus on this summer. Thanks to everyone for all the help
and support and for making a great year for all of us. Have a great summer!
