Mission For The Class
The mission of the class is to instill a positive work ethic in every
student so that all children will progress according to their
ability. The cornerstones of this goal are respect and responsibility.
Expectations are high because high expectations produce better
results. When we learn to discipline ourselves others won't need to
discipline us.
Gifted students must have opportunities to apply the core curriculum in a
variety of settings. Love of learning and a sense of adventure and wonder
are key. Lifelong learning is a must for all humans especially in light of
the explosion in technology and information.
As the GT specialist I adhere to district guidelines for teachers. In addition, I also follow
the National standards for Gifted Education Specialists. The link to this document is:

Children identified and served in gifted programs often need to adjust to the
additional educational opportunities presented. The goal of these programs
is the preparation of children for the opportunities and responsibilities
available to children as they progress through school and life. My experience
has shown that these learners love a challenge, even if there are struggles.
We will use critical thinking, inductive and deductive reasoning, a discussion
format that requires children to reason through their thought processes, as well
as other methods. The points below offer guidelines. Teachers, administrators,
and counselors will work with families as needed.
If there is ever a question please feel free to contact me.
Children in grades need to arrange taking of scheduled quizzes and tests in order
not to miss gifted classes.
Students must also ask teachers about
daily assignments,
due dates for the work in question,
and any other requirements for completion.
All students in gifted classes are required to attend each session, to arrive on time,
and participate to the best of their abilities.
