English 9 Homework

Permanent notice on this webpage: If the scores on your graded papers together with your complete grade point chart do not match what you find on NetClassroom, please let me know and I will check any one of your individual scores with my hardcopy gradebook. It helps if you write out your concern in advance on a slip of paper. Thank you. Br. Paul Special note: Beginning on Monday, September 28, any INCOMPLETE will be scored as "1" (one point) on NetClassroom.

HOMEWORK FOR EXAM WEEK:

TOTAL POINTS FOR SEMESTER FINAL: 200. This test is comprehensive and will likely take you the entire time allowed. Although it will have the full time period, plan to work at a fairly rapid pace.

Continue preparing for the semester final. Use the four(4) Study Guides that you received in class.

As explained in class, well-organized and disciplined group study is highly recommended.

Study your vocabulary by reviewing vocabulary quizzes 1-8. Focus on the words you got wrong on each unit quiz.

Review class notes from August to December.

Review and study any literature quizzes we have had. Remember that we read/discussed three books this semester:

(1) Same Kind of Different as Me, (2) Airborn, (3)To Kill a Mockingbird.

Study some English everyday in preparation for the semester final.

Planning to cram everything in on the last minute is not recommended!

Please note: There will be no major writing component on the final test, as was previously announced. However, instead of writing a single essay, you will be asked to correct/revise a number of individual sentences. These sentences will be based on the models and exercises found in both WriteSource and HoltHandbook. See study guides. So, study the examples.

PLEASE REMEMBER: Bring two BLACK INK ballpoint pens with you for the test. No other colored ink is acceptable. It is suggested that you also bring some White-Out. You will not need any extra paper.

Please note carefully: if you see anything on NetClassroom that is not consistent with your grade point chart, please bring it to my attention by sending an email.
