Course Description
This course is intended to enable students to read, discuss, and asses the
most important developments and events of the contemporary world. The
students will learn to evaluate today’s “news” in an historical context
using political, social, economic, religious, and cultural analysis.
Materials
Various media and print sources will be used.
Grades
Grades will come from exams, pop quizzes, work assignments, and daily
participation. Each student should keep a running total of their grade in
their notebook.
Grading scale.
100% - 90% A
89% - 80% B
79% - 70% C
69% - 60% D
Below 60% F
Exams
We will have weekly quizzes/exams.
Student requirements
The successful student will need to actively participate in class
discussions. The students will also be required to bring in articles/news
stories on a daily basis.
