Enrichment Opportunities!
(extra credit)
Opportunities for extra credit are available for students who choose to attend events which improve cultural literacy or global awareness. These events should expand your horizons and expand your comfort zone. Sporting events, movies, and most concerts are out. Examples of events which students have attended in the past include the Anne Frank Exhibit, Cascia Hall productions, and the Whistler Exhibit at Philbrook.
To receive extra credit points, you must submit some proof of attendance along with a 2-page, double-spaced, 12-font personal response to this event. This submission should describe the event in detail, record your observations and reactions to the event, and detail the impact the event had on your cultural or global awareness. The emphasis of your analysis should not be summary of the event but rather your reaction and response. Proof of attendance could be a ticket stub or receipt, but a program or pamphlet with information for me to read would be preferable. Ask your parents to sign-off on your attendance also.
Check the newspaper for ideas, organize a group, and plan ahead. Seek prior approval if you are unsure if the event fits the parameters of this opportunity. Your response must be submitted in a timely fashion—within a week of the event. All extra credit must be submitted before the last week of each quarter. Students may have one opportunity each quarter for no more than 25 extra credit points. Stretch and grow!
