Thu 20 Aug:      Brainstorm material for summer reading essay.

Fri 21 Aug:        Introduction letter and syllabus slip due.  Discuss material for summer reading essay.

 

Week 2: Native American literature

Mon 24 Aug:     Summer reading essay due.  Preview vocab 1.  Intro to NatAm lit.

Tue 25 Aug:      Computer lab: Cascia email, turnitin.com, NatAm lit websitesBring summer reading essay file on flash drive or Cascia email.

Wed 26 Aug:     Vocab 1 extra credit dueSubmit NatAm story choice.  Discuss NatAm packet.

Thu 27 Aug:      Present NatAm stories.

Fri 28 Aug:        Vocab quiz 1.  Present NatAm stories.

 

Week 3: Colonial literature

Mon 31 Aug:     Discuss “Everyday Use” and work on quilt square.

Tue 1 Sep:        “Everyday Use” quilt square due.  Intro to colonial lit.

Wed 2 Sep:        Computer lab: Begin exploring colonial lit websites.

Thu 3 Sep:        Discuss colonial lit.

Fri 4 Sep:          Quiz: Roger Williams and The New England Primer.

Mon 7 Sep:        No classes: Labor Day.

Tue 8 Sep:        Preview vocab 2.  Finish discussing colonial lit websites.
