Unit 1 Objectives and Skills:
o Learn the terminology and notation associated with geometric objects
such as point, segment, line, ray, plane, angle, polygon (triangle,
quadrilateral, pentagon, hexagon)
o State and describe the three basic building blocks of Geometry.
o Know and apply the midpoint property
o Know the characteristics of special objects such as acute and obtuse
angles and triangles, scalene triangles, collinear points, coplanar figures,
congruent figures, and equilateral, equiangular, and regular polygons
o Translate descriptions into diagrams and vice versa, Sketch and
label
a picture
o Develop the skills of measuring angles and line segments and marking
figures
o Know the relationships between special pairs of angles
o Translate geometrical relationships into algebraic sentences and
solve the resulting equations.
