Assignment for Wednesday:
1. Draw and name all the isomers of C₇H₁₆

Why is it impossible to have a 1-methylhexane or a 6-methylhexane, or a 2 ethylpentane???There are 9 isomers, one heptane, two hexanes, five pentanes and one butane.

Your assignment will be picked up as you enter class.
2. Draw and name two  somewhat complicated molecules and you will build it tomorrow in lab. ex. 1-bromo-2chloro-4,4dimethyl-2,3pentadiene.

We will start on functional groups so read it in your book.  Know what a hydroxyl, carbonyl and carboxalic groups are:

Assignment for Thursday: Learn functional groups.  Study the powerpoint on functional groups. Know alcohols, organic acids, aldehydes, ketones, ethers, esters, amines and amides.

Also draw and name all the isomers of C₃H₆.

Tomorrow we will try to name the molecules you made.

Friday we will make molecules with functional groups!
