Computer Skills Notes

Updated 09/18/08

NEW ASSIGNMENT!!!: I need for each student to send an email to me listing the
number of lessons you have completed, your current GWAM scores
(average/fastest) and number of lessons where you used the backspace key. My
email is on the web page under FAQ. You are in B3. (not 3b, 3B B-3 or 3-B.)

KEEP THIS FRESH IN YOUR MIND!!! We are ending the third week of class. You
should have completed at least twenty-one (21) lessons by this time. If you
have not, you need to pick up the pace during class and an maybe use time
before school in my classroom or in the library to get more work done.

You should have check marks by the lessons you have completed. If you do not
you need to make sure you are saving your completion information to a place
that doesn't erase your results. Save to either the I: drive(school drive) or
to a flash drive. The C: drive on the Dell desktop computers erases anything
you put on it when you turn the computer off.

If you have lost results I will take that into consideration in grading. You
can complete lessons that follow the ones that were lost and if your scores
and speed show decent improvement I will waive the lost lessons.

REMEMBER I EXPECT YOU TO GET YOUR TYPING SPEED UP TO ~40 GWAM AND TO COMPLETE
ABOUT FORTY-NINE(49)LESSONS DURING THE QUARTER.

The weekly goals you should try for are posted on Computer Skills Handout Page.

FROM 09/08/08 Dr. Testa doesn't like flip-flops as a shoe. It isn't a shoe. It
is a convenience targeted at beach and pool-side use. There are reasons I don’t
like them. These include safety and health. In the area of health, I have
made an assignment for you so you understand one of the reasons why I think
flip-flops should not be worn at school. You will receive an article on
flip-flops the first part of this week. You are to take it home and share it
with your parents. You complete the assignment by having your parents send me
a note that you have discussed the article. The note is due Monday September
15 2008.
