CODA Band Members
The CODA band rehearsals will be Friday, and Saturday January 8th and 9th. I
will drive students to OU on Friday, Jan. 8th for the rehearsal but parents
will have to take students to OU on Saturday for the reharsal and concert.
All members of the Classen SAS family are invited to the concert in Sharp
Hall on the OU campus at 2:00pm. Admission is free. Parents, if you have
any questions please call me by Thursday (556-
5070)
Basketball Games
Our first home basketball game will be Friday, December 4th. Students should
meet in the band room by 6:30pm to prepare for the game. Students should
wear their band T-Shirt, jeans, white socks and tennis shoes. Those students
who do not make the event should prepare to be tested on Monday. Arpeggio
number 2 will be the test. Students will be dismissed at 9:00pm.
Winter Concert
The Classen Band Department will present its Winter Concert on Thursday,
December 10, 2009 at 7:00pm in the Classen auditorium. Students should meet
in their designated locations be 6:30pm. Beginning, Intermediate and
Advanced Band members should wear white tops and black bottoms. Boys should
wear black shoes and black socks. High School Band members should wear all
black tops and bottoms. High School boys should wear long sleeve black
button up shirts.
We would also like to have a reception after our concert therefore we are
asking all students to bring something sweet and place it on the reception
table outside the front of the auditorium prior to the concert. Mrs.
LaVictoire, our band liaison will coordinate the reception. If you are able
to assist her with the reception, please email Mrs. La Victoire at
susanpac@sbcglobal.net.
Parents, the first three performing groups will be asked to remain in the
auditorium until the intermission. At that time if students have to leave
they can be dismissed but I hope everyone will stay to hear our Jazz Band.
My students have all worked hard in preparation for this concert so I hope
you will stay and enjoy the entire program. Don't forget, there will be a
reception at the conclusion of the program.

Jazz Band Performance
Our Jazz Band will travel to Christ the King church for a performance during
a Seniors luncheon. This event will take place at 12:00noon. Students will
wear all black for this performance.

This students will participate in an All-City Honor Band performance at
Douglass HS on Saturday, January 16, 2009 at 2:00pm. They will also have an
all day rehearsal on Friday, January 15, 2009 at Douglass HS. We take a
chartered bus to Douglass on Friday.

the campus of the University of Oklahoma in January.
What is.....
All-State
All-State is an individual competition for High School students across
the state of Oklahoma. Members who do well become All-State Honor Band
Students. Scholarship are often offered to students who make this band.
C.O.D.A.
CODA stands for Central Oklahoma Director's Association. Middle
school through High school students compete individually against others in
the region in this prestigious competition. Members who do well become All-
Region Honor Band Students. Scholarships are often offered to high school
students who make this band.
Band Concil
The Band Council provides input to the director reguarding activites
and promotions for the band.
