Mr. Irons has taught in the Oklahoma City Public School for over 30
years. He received his Undergraduate degree from Langston University and
his Masters degree from the University of Central Oklahoma. His first
teaching assignment was at Central Innovative High School in OKC. Mr. Irons
has spent 15 years teaching MS Band and 16 years teaching HS Band. He also
taught MS strings for 16 years.
Mr. Irons has two children, Regina and Jeremy, who are past graduates of
Classen SAS like their DAD. Regina is a recent graduate from the University
of Oklahoma and Jeremy is in his Senior year at UCO also majoring in
Music Eduation. Regina is the new Orchestra director at Western Oaks MS in
the Putnam City school district. Jeremy can be seen each month playing
Alto Saxophone with the number 2 Jazz Band at the UCO Jazz Lab the first
Monday of each month. His lovely wife of 32 years is Debra who works for AT
& T.
Mr. Irons is in his fifth year of teaching at Classen and since that
time, the HS Band has grown from 29 to 47 students. Mr. Irons has found
Classen to be a great place to teach outstanding students and meet
supportive parents.
