‘The Road Not Taken”
by Robert Frost
Interview Assignment
DIRECTIONS: Share Robert Frost’s poem, “The Road Not Taken” with an
important adult in your life (mom, dad, grandparents, aunt, uncle, friend,
etc.). Tell that adult what you think this poem is about. Ask your important
adult if there has ever been a time in his/her life when he/she had to make
an important decision that ended up changing the course of his/her life. If
the person agrees to share this part of his/her life with you, and will allow
you to write a paper about it (that will be shared with all your classmates),
ask the following questions and take notes:
1. Tell me a little bit about your life at the time you had to make
this decision. Do you have any pictures of yourself at this
time? Can I see them? Describe the setting where you lived.
If you did not live in Oklahoma City/Edmond, can you show
me on a map where you were living then. (DO NOT BRING
PICTURES TO SCHOOL – THESE ARE ONLY FOR YOU TO
LOOK AT )
2. What decision did you have to make? Was it a hard decision?
What were some of the factors that you had to consider in
making this decision? What finally helped you make the
decision you made? Have you ever had regrets about the
decision?
3. What has changed in your life since you made that decision?
What advice would you give me about making decisions in my
life? What is the best piece of advice you ever received from
someone? Why?
FORMAT:
1. Write or type the information gained from your interview.
Use paragraph form, correct spelling, good grammar, and
punctuation. Length : no more than 1 page.
