Dear Parents,
I just wanted to make sure that you received your child's book baggie this evening. There is a hot pink letter in the bag that explains the kindergarten reading program. There is also a log (front and back) that needs to be filled out each night. If your child needs more practice reading his/her book, keep the book at home for one more night & do not return it to school. You may read the book to your child first to help him/her become familiar with the text. Even if the story is predictable (and your child has memorized it), have him put his finger under each word as he reads it - tracking the print. Sometimes we may have read the books in class first, but many times your child will not have read/seen the book yet that I send home. Please go over any sight words that occur throughout the book (these are often listed inside the front or back cover). If the books your child receives are consistently too difficult and require more than 10-20 minutes of practice, please let me know. Do not hesitate to e-mail me if you have questions that I have not addressed. T
Thank you,
Mrs. Esmon
