Top Text:
When your child has learned all of the words and can read the words fluently on his/her current Dolch List, sign the list or send me a note telling me your child knows the words on Dolch List ________. I will assess your child on the current list, and then send home a new Dolch word list. There are three Dolch Lists that your child needs to master by the end of the year: Pre-Primer, Primer, and First Grade. Students will be given the Second and Third Grade List if they progress to that level before the end of school. A fun way to learn these words is to put the words on index cards and create a "word" trail around the house. Have your child read the words as they follow the "trail" of words. If a word is missed, they will need to return to the start. I have used this method in the classroom and with my own children, and they enjoy the learning and movement. You may want to put a little surprise or evening snack at the end of the trail.
