Dear Parents,
If you know of anyone that is new and has not enrolled their child, please encourage them to enroll now. Enrollment numbers will affect your child's class size in all grade levels.
All students can benefit from out-of-school learning experiences. I hope you will find this list of summer learning activities to be helpful.
*Have your child work on the Compass program which can be accessed through the school website. His/her username and password are on the computer card inside the report card envelope. I made an assignment for my students for the summer. It is under ABC - McRay. There are several assignments your child can do to enhance what he/she has already learned.
*Set aside a regular time every day to read with your child. Reading levels tend to drop over the summer, please continue to read.
*Find out if your library has any summer programs for students.
*Write notes to your child.
*Have your child write about something they are interested in.
*Review sight words and Dolch words in a fun way. – (side walk chalk, painting the words, writing the words in shaving cream) Sometimes children forget their sight words. Please continue to work on these.
*Give your child a book, or a game, or app that requires reading as a gift or reward.
*Build a climate of words at home. Share experiences and extend your child’s vocabulary by discussing them.
Have a wonderful summer with your child! I miss my class so much!.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Pitts
