| SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT -
Our fourth Grade Academic Bowl Team won the meet today, Wednesday March
5th by taking first place. Congratulations! You all did a great job. You
worked as team player and represented Deer Creek Elementary in a great way.
Thanks to the parents and grandparents that helped us each week.
CHESS CLUB: Your child can still be a part of our Chess Club. Just check
with Mrs. Patricia Johnson and she will give you a form. February is
Tournament Month for our Chess Club. Students are signing up this week and
next to be a part of the Chess Club Tournament. There are great prizes and
it is a great deal of fun to participate. Parents are welcome to come and
visit our Chess Club on any given Wednesday during their child's lunch
time. Mr. Randy Schafer is our Chess Master and Mrs. Knudson is his
assistant.
WALK ACROSS OKLAHOMA:The Walking has begun. Every Tuesday and Thursday we
are walking around the gym or on the outdoor classroom's trail. If you have
some extra time and love to walk come and help us. Contact Mrs. Jan Goodin.
Every student gets a healthy snack at the end of their running. The PTO has
been very generous in providing the snacks for this years walking. We may
come up a little short as we do have a larger number than anticiated
walking. If you would like to help us with some snacks contact Mrs.
Johnson or Mrs. Jan Goodin.
This event gets us geared up for our annual "Creek Classic". WOW! I
hope you are planning to sign up for this great event. Wouldn't it be
rewarding to see a large number of participants enter from Deer Creek
Elementary.
HEALTHY LIVING COMPACT: The Healthy Living Compacts have been sent home.
This past Monday you received a reminder. I do hope you will participate as
a family in the great family night. We are beginning to get fun pictures
from some of our students from their family nights. We welcome your
pictures. There will be a large wall display of the fun things that
happened during "family night" at home.
WORKING IN THE OUTDOOR CLASSROOM: If you have some extra time on your hands
and would like to do some winter work in our outdoor classroom, please
contact me here at the school. We can always use some extra hands to do
some special work for our children. Thanks for giving this your attention.
Thanks to everyone that helped clean up our Outdoor Classroom. Our students
have remarked how much better it looks. We are still in need of some
important work. We are looking for someone to seal our Pavilion, mulch the
trees and work on the flagstone walkways. If you are interested or know
someone that might be, please email me with contact information so work
times can be arranged.

The fourth Grade Academic Bowl won the Beta tournament on March 5th. They
came in first. We are extremely proud of them. Way to go 4th grade team.
